Company History

Tom & Colleen Odenbrett started Tommy’s Printing in 1972 and operated it as a commercial printing company serving businesses and organizations in the area.  In 1982, as part of their operation, they started The Equalizer, a monthly shopper.

In 1996 Scott & Jill Munger purchased Tommy’s Printing. The name of the business was changed to Vermillion Printing & Graphics. In 2006 Vermillion Printing & Graphics purchased PrintSource, a small print shop/copy center in Yankton. At that point the name of the business was changed to PrintSource Network, Inc.

In 2009 PrintSource made the decision to move their Vermillion operation to their current address, 121 E. Cherry Street. As part of the move, PrintSource added some new and expanded services, and began publishing The Equalizer on a weekly basis.

Currently The Equalizer is the dominant source of print advertising for businesses in Clay County. It has a weekly circulation of 9,800. The Equalizer is a member of the Midwest Free Community Papers trade association and has been recognized with many awards for graphics design, sales promotion and community service.
